Australian Wine with a Celtic Twist:
Thistledown Wines hark back to the Scottish roots of Alliance, one of our suppliers, but utilise the Australian winemaking skills of Peter Leske to craft a premium range of classic Australian wines from iconic South Australian regions. We have wandered high and low to find the best grapes, dig out parcels of wonderful ancient vines and work with some great producers to create a range that is both authentic and great value for money. The Great Escape is a gorgeously crisp, balanced example of cool Eden Valley Chardonnay, compelling evidence for why this variety should no longer be imprisoned by the stigmas of the past. The Cunning Plan Shiraz combines classic McLaren Vale Shiraz with a dash of old vine Barossa fruit adding depth of flavour and a lush, succulent palate. Completing the triad is the Basket Case from the Barossa Valley, home to some of the oldest vines on earth. We've picked perfect concentrated fruit and coaxed the reluctant juice with that most ancient of winemaking tools, the basket press.
Tasting Note:
The High Eden vineyards are situated above the Barossa Valley floor and offers a cooler climate for the production of quality white wine. Viticulture here is all about a long growing season that ensures wonderfully intense, crisp, balanced whites. Citrussy, subtle oak influence and a bright yet creamy palate.
A customer favourite that shatters all the preconceptions about Australian Chardonnay.
